While many other Navajo songs cannot be interpreted easily, almost every syllable in “Shí Naashá” is translatable. shí = I naashá = walk biké = path I follow hózhǫ́ = beauty way lá = (emphasizing what was said before) ahala = freedom (the sense of joy walking towards freedom) ghą = in the way of naashá = walk Shí naashá (I am going/walking around), is a song, composed in 1868 to commemorate the release of the Diné from internment at Fort Sumner.
